The Role

As a Senior Technologist, you will create technical content for some of the world’s largest technology companies. This content can include training materials for instructor-led training or self-paced learning, web-based reference materials, best practice guidance, instructional videos, architecture and process diagrams, technical marketing and sales collateral, and much more.

You will work closely with clients and other stakeholders to gather information, establish requirements, and steer projects to a successful conclusion.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Create high quality technical content in a range of form factors.
  • Interpret client requirements and relate them to the needs of your target audience.
  • Work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including project managers, copy editors, technical reviewers, graphic artists, testers and other technologists.
  • Work independently on small projects.
  • Adhere to fast-paced, demanding, milestone-based schedules.
  • Meet (virtually and face-to-face) with clients, stakeholders and subject matter experts as a regular part of the content development lifecycle.

Ancillary responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the breadth and depth of your technical skills.
  • Assist with the scoping of technical content development projects by helping to gather and establish client requirements.
  • Work with virtual teams that may span multiple time zones and countries.

The Person

To qualify for this position, you must have a premier Microsoft certification (MCSE/MCSD or equivalent) and excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to explain technical concepts using examples, analogies, illustrations, summarisation and simplification as appropriate. You will also have the interpersonal skills to work closely with clients and with colleagues in various areas of the business, including project management and sales and marketing.

Experience as a Microsoft Certified Trainer will be beneficial, as will the ability to demonstrate a high level of activity in the Microsoft technology community; such as blogging, conference speaking, or participation in community groups.
