Latest design and release of eLearning courses for Microsoft

CM Group’s US based division, Content Master, continues to work with Microsoft to create popular and highly rated instructor-led and eLearning courses on flagship Microsoft technologies. Here is a round-up of our recent highlights:

Online training for Microsoft Partner Network

Microsoft Worldwide in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) needed to take more than 1,000 pieces of content and create online training for publication to members of the Microsoft Partner Network via the Partner Learning Center. The training encompassed 13 languages (including English) and 69 audiences. This was achieved in eight and a half weeks from start to finish. It included the creation of:

804 courses
192 assessments
202 landing pages
27 curriculums
1,225 total published packages

New App for Windows 8 tablets and phones

We have developed an eLearning App for Windows 8 tablets and phones. Content will be provided by a Windows Azure based platform and Learning Management System (LMS). A variety of different content types and formats (including video) will be able to be pushed to these Windows 8 devices. Additionally, gamification is being created to help drive adoption of the App to reinforce the learning content.

Microsoft Office 2013 Launch

We were asked to design, develop and publish the online training with scripted PowerPoint decks for the Microsoft Office 2013 launch. This included localising the courses into 11 languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese.

Windows Intune Update

For the latest update to the Microsoft cloud-based Windows Intune management solution, we designed and developed a number of technical instructor led training (ILT) courses and online training (OLT) courses. Additionally, several proof of concepts (POCs) were created, including one on Mobile Device Management.

New training courses created as part of the Microsoft Official Curriculum

Content Master, the US based division of CM Group, which provides a combination of technical expertise, comprehensive content development and publishing services across Microsoft has recently created a number of new training courses as part of the Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC).

Targeted at IT Professionals, the recent courses created by Content Master include:

Core Solutions of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 – this course provides the knowledge and skills to configure and manage a Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 environment. The course demonstrates how to configure a SharePoint 2013 Server, as well as providing guidelines, best practices, and considerations that will help optimise a SharePoint Server deployment.

Advanced Solutions of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 – this course examines how to plan, configure, and manage a Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 environment. Special areas of focus include implementing high availability, disaster recovery, service application architecture, business connectivity services, social computing features, productivity and collaboration platforms and features, business intelligence solutions, enterprise content management, web content management infrastructure, solutions and Apps.

Designing Database Solutions for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 – this course describes how to design and monitor high performance, highly available data solutions with SQL Server 2012. The course focuses on creating plans and designs for database structure, storage, objects and servers.

Designing Business Intelligence Solutions with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 – this course demonstrates how to design and implement a business intelligence (BI) infrastructure. The course discusses design, installation and maintenance of a BI platform.

Continued growth at CM Group’s US and UK offices

With the organisation embarking on new and exciting projects we are again expanding our team. We have just welcomed three new starters, one to our US office and two to the UK office.

Steven Moore, Senior Project Manager - Steven has joined our US office. He brings with him a wealth of experience gained whilst at large software companies, including Microsoft and Sun Microsystems.

Neil McEwan, Learning Solutions Consultant – has joined the UK sales team. Having been engaged in business development for a range of education products and services for a number of years, he brings with him his knowledge around eLearning, work based learning and training delivery.

David Ashby, Learning Solutions Consultant – has also joined the UK sales team. With a background in IT sales, he brings with him his knowledge of the eLearning and Learning Management Systems.

eLearning Courses Assist the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office’s New Product Launch

Growing team at CM Group’s UK office

With the organisation continuously embracing new technology and developing new and existing products we are again expanding our team. We have just welcomed three new starters to the UK office.

Drew Rilett, Senior Web Developer – Drew has a wealth of software development experience and is now working on our Luminosity suite of products.

Chad Schofield, eLearning Instructional Designer – having worked in web development, branding and design, as well as designing and creating video-based training programmes, he brings an interesting range of skills to our ID team.

Gareth Desmond, Marketing Executive – a marketing graduate with over 6 years’ experience at a large software company, he joins the team at this exciting time of growth.

CM Group continues charity support

At CM Group we aim to make 13 lucky as we celebrate 13 years of supporting charities. As part of our ethos to try and make a difference, we have been pleased to be able to donate a significant amount of money to registered charities. We have been pleased to donate over £140,000 to our chosen charities.

Our five focus areas are:

National charities
Overseas aid
Disaster relief
Local community projects
Medical research

The charities we have supported include the NSPCC, Help for Heroes, Haven Home Orphanage, Mercy Ships, Caring at Christmas, Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.

CM Group launch mLearning iPad App for UK high street bank

With a reputation as a leading provider of financial services, this major UK high street bank looked to provide its small business customers with engaging, informative and interactive mLearning.

Following consultation with CM Group, a custom iPad App was recommended as the best solution to meet the bank’s mLearning needs.

Using our Luminosity Studio eLearning authoring tool, the App was developed specifically for the iPad by our software development team. It was crucial to ensure that the user interface was smooth and attractive, and designed to fully integrate with the bank’s corporate branding.

All content was hosted on our Cloud based Learning Management System (LMS), Luminosity Reach, which allows for new and updated content to be pushed out to users quickly and easily from a centrally managed point. This means the bank can keep the content and therefore their customers up to date.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is making huge waves in the business world, with many employees already using their own devices, and companies either supporting or wanting to support BYOD policies. Alex Mackman will present two sessions at Learning Technologies 2013, 29th and 30th January 2013, examining the benefits and business value that can be delivered through the effective use of modern learning technologies. They will highlight the significance of responsive Web content – content that can adapt its presentation and layout to suit the user’s device, and will examine the pros and cons of various device delivery approaches – native Apps, HTML5 Web Apps, and hybrid Apps vs. traditional browser delivery mechanisms. Finally, this session will present approaches to help you avoid some of the common barriers that can slow progress – barriers often imposed by the corporate LMS.

iPads and other tablets under the spotlight by CM Group’s Alex Mackman at Learning Technologies Show at Olympia

CM Group’s Technical Director Alex Mackman is recognised for his thought leadership in the area of delivering high quality eLearning out to mobile devices. His regular blogs on overcoming the technical hurdles of mobile delivery are well known and at Learning Technologies on Thursday 26th January he will be examining the exciting new opportunities presented by the latest tablets.

CM Group specialises in comprehensive learning solutions for its clients. On Thursday 26th January at 2.00-2.30pm, CM Group’s Technical Director Alex Mackman is speaking at the Learning Technologies Show in Theatre 4 at London Olympia on the challenges and opportunities presented by the mobile delivery of learning.
